Wrinkling
Wrinkling often occurs in alkyd paints when applied in large thicknesses. This is due to the fact that the outer layer reacts completely while the inner layer of paint remains soft.
Reasons:
- The paint was applied too thick
- The application was made in inappropriate environmental conditions (excessive heat or extreme cold and high levels of humidity), which resulted in the paint drying unevenly
- The surface preparation was not done correctly
- The substrate was not dry when the final product was applied.
Solution:
- Scrape and sand the surface to remove wrinkles.
- If you apply a primer, let it dry well.
- If you don’t prime the entire surface, suggest priming the repaired areas.
- Ensure that there will be no extremes of temperature and humidity and apply the final ER-LAC product of your choice.
