Solution:

Clean the surface, sand the surface and apply a high quality ER-LAC paint which is washable.

High-quality paints have a high resistance to brush washing, so they can be washed and cleaned very easily without affecting the coating.

The Frame problem is the phenomenon of non-uniform coloring of the surface that occurs when all the edges of a wall are first painted with a brush and then the rest of the wall with a roller.

Because brush-on surfaces dry before roller application, the final result appears darker on the edges and lighter on the roller-brushed surfaces.

Reasons:

The brush leaves a thicker layer than the roller.

Use of an inappropriate pigment in the paint which creates a different effect depending on the application method.

Solution:

Make sure the brush and roller leave the same amount of paint on the surface.

Do not try to do the edges of the whole room first with the brush and then use the roller.

Work in smaller sections of the room so that you maintain a constantly wet surface.

Make sure that the coloring of the materials is done in the right way and that they are mixed well before use.

Cracking paint that takes a similar form to that of mud when it dries and cracks. It is noticed as soon as the paint components start to evaporate from the surface.

Reasons:

Application of the coating in a large thickness, to cover a porous surface

Use of low quality paint and application in a large thickness to achieve the desired coverage

The build-up of color in the corners during application

Solution

When the above phenomenon occurs, the paint has now lost its consistency and must be removed.

Scrape the surface and leave it dry and clean.

Apply one of ER-LAC’s primers and then apply your chosen ER-LAC high technology final coating.

ER-LAC’s high-quality final paints have a high covering capacity, thus reducing the tendency to apply thicker layers, while they also contain a high percentage of solids, which reduces the tendency for the paint to crack.

During the application of the paint, bubbles are created which burst when drying and leave small round craters.

Reasons:

Excessive mixing of the paint

Use of low quality paint

Very fast application with the roller or brush

Using very old paint

Solution:

Do not use very old paints.

When applying avoid strong and very fast application.

If you notice the appearance of craters during painting, remove them while the surface is still wet.

After drying, the repair requires removal of the paint and repainting.

If applying gloss or satin paint to a porous surface, apply a suitable primer first and then apply the paint carefully.

Paint foaming during application is a common occurrence as it directly depends on the method of application, however ER-LAC’s high quality paints are properly formulated so that the bubbles break while the paint is still wet, leaving a smooth and even surface.

Blisters are created by localized loss of adhesion and removal of paint from the underlying surface. They are hemispherical in shape and are either dry or contain liquid. Their size depends on the degree of adhesion and the pressure inside the bubble.

Reasons:

Application of the final paint on fresh or wet surfaces.

Poor cleaning of the surface, resulting in materials such as oils, waxes or dust, preventing the adhesion of the paint.

Use of inappropriate paint or incompatible with the existing layer on the wall.

Use of poor quality or unsuitable substrate.

Solution:

Scrape and rub the surface.

Remove all bubbles from the surface and apply one ER-LAC’s primers: MONODUR or MONODUR AQUA.

Then apply the final paint of your choice.

If the problem is deeper and the wall shows moisture it is important to solve the moisture problem first and then prime and paint the wall.

Initially it starts with small cracks, even invisible to the naked eye, which do not penetrate the total depth of the coating (Checking). If the phenomenon is not addressed it will lead to cracking, where the cracks extend to the substrate and then to peeling.

Reasons:

Insufficient cleaning of the surface.

Not applying a primer when it was necessary.

Aging or prolonged exposure of paint to bad weather conditions.

Very thin or too thick layer.

Excessive thinning of the paint.

Use of low-quality paint, which has insufficient internal cohesion, adhesion and elasticity, due to an incomplete paint recipe.

Abrupt changes in temperature that cause spasms or extreme temperatures.

Solution:

Scrape and rub the surface.

Remove all loose parts from the surface so that the surface is dry and clean.

In places where the color has been completely removed, apply the appropriate primer and then the final color of ER-LAC you have chosen.
